Stephan: Mirriam-Webster defines Fascism as "a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition." Today it is more fashionably known as Identitarian politics. Based on his public statements, and the appointments he is making to his administration Donald Trump is an Identitarian Fascist.
And right on cue his fellow Identitarian Fascists are trying to suppress opposition to his views amongst academics. Here's the story.
David Horowitz and Joseph McCarthy
In late November three blocks from the White House, a group of leaders from the so-called alt-right, who many consider to simply be white supremacists, gathered for an annual conference called the National Policy Institute. Their goal was to discuss and debate the opportunities offered by a Donald Trump presidency for their white nationalist plans. In the wake of a rise in hate crimes, the meeting sent a chill throughout the nation.
But making America whiter “again” is not the only thing we need to fear with a Trump administration. Only two days after the alt-right convention in D.C., Turning Point USA launched Professor Watchlist, a website designed to call out college professors who “discriminate against conservative students and advance leftist propaganda in the classroom.”
As Rebecca Schuman wrote for Slate, in other circumstances, these might be two unrelated events, but “as the president-elect’s surrogates cite Japanese internment as a ‘precedent’ for what may come, any ‘watch list’ of any sort is worrying.”
Trump’s inability to handle any sort […]
Another definition of fascism is the merging of state and corporate interests. The corporations have been running America for many years, with the state doing little more than rubber-stamping their requests.
It seems Hillary is an Identitarian Globalist Shill and Trumpster is an Identitarian Fascist. I would not deem the two constituting a choice. Steven is correct this rubberstamp government is nothing new and the red & blue folks are both culpable. Crony capitalism will lead to ruin no matter if the red NOT-SEE or the blue NOT-SEE is the flavor of the day.
