Why can’t the United States do what every other developed nation on earth has the decency to do and create universal birthright single payer healthcare? Why? Because our healthcare system is owned by corporations who, in turn, own the American Congress, and who have created a healthcare system that doesn’t care a damn about your wellbeing. All they care about is making the maximum profit for themselves that is possible. That is why Americans live shorter lives than the people in other countries. That is why we have the worst healthcare — the U.S. ranks 69th — in the developed world, and a maternal mortality rate that is many times worse than any other industrialized country in the world. Do you realize how many dead women each year that represents? Forget about politics, vote for whomever will, in turn, vote to create universal birthright single payer healthcare. It is vastly cheaper and you will be healthier.
More than 8.5 million Americans have lost their Medicaid benefits in 2023. Credit: Getty
Based on enrollment numbers at the start of the year, that means roughly 1 in 10 people covered by Medicaid have lost their health insurance in a matter of months. After the US saw its uninsured rate hit historic lows during the pandemic, millions of the most vulnerable Americans are now falling off the rolls — with no assurance they will be able to find another form of coverage.
Worse, many of those losing coverage are losing it because of administrative hiccups and would otherwise be eligible — a problem that is disproportionately impacting children.
We won’t know until next year’s national insurance surveys how many people simply ended up uninsured and how many people successfully enrolled in another form of health coverage even as they lost their Medicaid […]
We may rank 69th in healthcare but I’ll bet we’re close to the top in self-centeredness.

As I said in my previous comment on health care, until Americans realize how treacherous the Citizens Unite decision was by SCOTUS and then vote OUT any who receive contributions from health care providers who benefit from Congress supporters of their for profit health care systems, nothing will change. The vote is the most powerful weapon Americans have and stupidly do not use it to their advantage! Vote out these greedy Congress people whose main interest is getting re-elected, not helping constituents lead healthy, safe lives!

Yet many of the ones that suffer the increased costs are those that are investors through their investment funds which demand greater profits each year! Like having your cake and eating too…..doesn’t normally turn out well.

the dumbing down of America continues across the board.Book bans, laws that demonstrate an anti women approach. Poland which has long been under far right control took steps today away from where the US seems to be headed. It feels like we’re beginning to slide into the status of a third world country, especially when it comes to education. And I attribute the slide to fear and poor education.
