A reader and I exchanged a few emails discussing what we would do today in considering going to college in Europe. It is an increasing trend. This is pretty sensible take on this question. The one thing I think it misses is that going to college in another country is an education far beyond the classroom.

The advantages of higher education in Europe

One of the biggest advantages of pursuing higher education in Europe is that tuition is often significantly cheaper than in the US. Additionally, many European countries offer free tuition to students from other EU countries, which can further reduce plus the cost of attending school. Scholarships and grants are also more widely available in Europe, which can help offset the cost of tuition even more.

Another advantage of European higher education is that there are many schools to choose from. Whether you want to attend a large public university or a small private university, you will be able to find what you are looking for in Europe. Also, because Europe is such a large and diverse continent, you will be able to find programs and courses of study that interest you no matter your field of interest.
